More testimonies!
Hey Ignyte,
Here are two more powerful testimonies of caring and connecting from our fellow youths!
The extent to which they went to care and connect their friends really wowed me!
Hopefully they will inspire you to do the same, even though it requires some sacrifices and extra work.
Let's praise God for all that He is doing in our lives, and thank Him for what is to come as we continue praying for more to be connected to the kingdom of God! :
Testimony - By Eng Han, Zone 2Two years ago, I wanted to find out more about Christianity, so I went to visit the IGNYTE website. I left an inquiry on the IGNYTE tagboard, asking whether anyone could help me to find out more about Christianity. To my surprise, a day later, lots of replies came – and that motivated me to attend one of the weekend IGNYTE services.
However, IGNYTE service was a total culture shock for me – it was my first time attending a church youth service, and I wasn’t used to all the jumping and cheering throughout the service! I felt really uncomfortable and out of place at the point of time.
Subsequently, Matthew, who replied to my inquiry on the tagboard, chatted with me over MSN – and he found out about the discomfort that I felt. Knowing that he had to clarify my doubts about church, he asked me out for lunch on a particular afternoon – and he kindly treated me lunch even though we were complete strangers. After lunch, both of us settled down at the Takashimaya lobby, if I didn’t remember wrongly – and he spent 2 hours going through New Beginnings, which was an essential guidebook for new Christians. He also helped to clarify all the doubts that I had about church, and I really appreciated him for his patience and helpfulness!
However, that was not all. Matthew knew that I was still in the process of finding a church, so he offered to accompany me to visit various churches around the area, even though he’s an IGNYTER. It was raining heavily – but he still shared his umbrella with me, and he was really keen to help me to find out more about the various youth ministries that each church catered. I was really touched by his gesture – and because of that, I’ve decided to join IGNYTE again!
So yes my friends, always remember that strangers are always families that we’ve yet acknowledged – so continue to reach out to people that’s around you, and be the salt and light of this generation, amen? Amen!
Testimony - Claire Yeo, Zone 2I only got closer to Jewel and Kim through this year's boarding school experience. We were allowed to stay in my school's boarding school for 3 weeks to experience the life of the scholars and learn to be independent. Throughout the 3 weeks, I remember heading over to their room every night. On one of the days, I was over at their room and we were on the computer. I knew at that point that both Jewel and Kim were Christians, so I thought there was no harm in sharing with them some nice Christian videos I saw on Youtube. After sharing the videos with them, they were more open in talking about their faith and the 3 of us starting sharing about it. Soon after, both Jewel and Kim starting confiding in me the problems they faced in their old church and it was then when I invited them to join me in Ignyte.
Jewel came the following week and enjoyed herself thoroughly. She started coming for services and cell regularly and started getting herself involved in the ministry. She told me that joining Ignyte was the best thing that ever happened to her. Kim, on the other hand, was more hesitant on jumping to another church as she had grown up in the church she was in previously. There was still a sense of attachment despite all the problems she was facing there.
However, things started to change after I invited her to attend the Hillsongs concert with me last year. After the concert, she told me she had never really worshipped God openly before, jumping to the songs and with arms raised high. It was her first and she loved it! I guess God spoke to her during that time because after that night she told me she was ready to try out Trinity. Jewel settled it really quickly, but it took Kim a slightly longer time to settle down in church as she had to settle some matters in her old church before joining us. But once she started attending cell and fuel regularly, she enjoyed it and told me she could really feel the presence of God during worship.
Doing TAWG wasn't new to Kim as she did it regularly every single day, but at that point of time, it was still quite a new thing for Jewel as she wasn't used to doing it on a regular basis. She also confided in me that sometimes when she got home she would be too tired to do her TAWG and would just fall asleep on her bed. After hearing that, I decided to invite Jewel to do her TAWG with me during our lunch break everyday. We both made it a point to meet every single day during lunch to do our TAWG. There were some weird stares from passer-bys at first but we chose to ignore them and instead focus our attention on God. Although the time spent doing TAWG everyday was a really short one because of our short breaks, it was still very productive. We could both really feel God's presence with us as we read our bibles. I also took that time to catch up on Jewel's life and made sure she was doing fine in her class, and helped her with her problems in school. Now, both Jewel and Kim are attending Ignyte on a regular basis and are even serving in their own respective ministries. They are happier than ever and praise God for that!
Testimonies of Caring and Connecting!
Hey Ignyte!
Here are some great testimonies of how fellow ignyters cared and connected their friends to God.
Great job!! A pat on the back for you! :)
Be encouraged by these testimonies and know that by caring and connecting, you are blessing your friends!
So go out there and Care and Connect! :)
Testimony - By Joel Foo, Zone 2I joined IGNYTE about 3 months ago, and the very first person I met was Eunice. She and my sister were in the same cell, and naturally I joined their cell as well. At that time, I did not know what to expect; I was finding it very hard to adjust back to a church with so many people, as my previous church was pretty small in number and the youth only consisted of 4 people. Everyone in the cell cared for me and week-by-week I got to know them better, and soon I got accustomed to weekly FUEL and IGNYTE service.
The person who cared and connected with me the most will be Asaph. Every week he makes it a point to SMS me where FUEL is and update me with any information regarding services. When I am not too sure about certain things I will direct my questions to him and he’ll try his best to answer them.
I wanted to serve God in everyway possible and just after 3 weeks, I decided to join the CH team. This further facilitated my settling in to IGNYTE as now I have a chance to know and work with more people.
On the 15th of November, I received an email from Sister Jas regarding IGNYTE courses, and being eager to find out more about Trinity, I signed up for the Welcome to the Trinity Family Course. After the course, I grew more in God as He showed me His purpose for me in IGNYTE and I felt more at home.Everyone in IGNYTE has made an impact in my life as it’s only when I first came to IGNYTE did I get to experience the joy of worshiping and learning more about God with so many other youths under the care and guidance of the leaders and pastors.
Testimony - By Gloria Lin, Upper Sec Alethea is a primary school friend of mine. Over the years, we kept in contact through msn but did not really talk often. Then one day early this year, she started a conversation with me on msn and asked about IGNYTE. Seeing an opportunity, I invited her for service that week. She came for services with me for the next few weeks but did not attend fuel. Although I encouraged her to come for fuel, she eventually left IGNYTE. I did not want to offend her so I did not continue to invite her back. A few months later, she unexpectedly messaged me to ask about service timings. I then asked her if she would want to come for fuel and to my surprise, she said yes! Since then, Alethea has been attending fuel regularly for about 3 months. Moreover, she also plans to get water baptized in Trinity next year. I am glad that I had invited her for fuel because she is now growing in her walk with God. From this, I have learnt that caring and connecting is not difficult – all you need to do is to truly care and want connect with your friends.
there can never be a more beautiful you
This is for all my girlfriends out there... Heard this on
KLove (this fantastic online Christian radio station you should check out!) and thought it a really apt song for us young people living in this
perfection- and beauty-obsessed age.
The lyrics pack a powerful message about
self-image into an awesome song that will have you rediscover the beautiful you. :)
Little girl fourteen flipping through a magazine
Says she wants to look that way
But her hair isn’t straight her body isn’t fake
And she’s always felt overweight
Well little girl fourteen I wish that you could see
That beauty is within your heart
And you were made with such care
your skin
your body
and your hair
Are perfect just the way they are
TThere could never be a more beautiful you
Don't buy the lies, disguises
and hoops they make you jump through
You were made to fill a purpose that only you could do
So there could never be a more beautiful you
Little girl twenty-one the things that you’ve already done
Anything to get ahead
And you say you’ve got a man but he’s got another plan
Only wants what you will do instead
Well little girl twenty-one you never thought that this would come
You starve yourself to play the part
But I can promise you there’s a man whose love is true
And he’ll treat you like the jewel you are
There could never be a more beautiful you
Don't buy the lies, disguises
and hoops they make you jump through
You were made to fill a purpose that only you could do
So there could never be a more beautiful you
So turn around you’re not too far
To back away be who you are
To change your path go another way
It’s not too late you can be saved
If you feel depressed with past regrets
The shameful nights hope to forget
Can disappear they can all be washed away
By the One who’s strong can
right your wrongs
can rid your fears
dry all your tears
And change the way you look at this big world
He will take your dark distorted view
And with His light He will show you truth
And again you’ll see through the eyes of a little girl
There could never be a more beautiful you
Don't buy the lies, disguises and
hoops they make you jump through
You were made to fill a purpose that only you could do
So there could never be a more beautiful you
There could never be,
a more beautiful
YOU.In His love and mine,
Sis Mich :)

Unified In Praise
SONG WRITE UPUnified In Praise:
I wrote this song based on one of Sister Gwen's sharings in worship min when the year first started out. It is mainly based on Ephesians 4. Verse 1 talks about Speaking the truth in love, to not hold a critical spirit nor gossip. Verse 2 talks about Supporting each other in love by not forgetting anyone and treating each other with importance, and verse 3 talks about being transformed by his spirit. With all that in mind, the song is about being unified in one spirit, praising his name.

I Believe
SONG WRITE UP
I Believe:
I Believe was birthed from a time of reflecting on how much Jesus has done for us on the cross. I felt the song welling up from within me as a very personal response to the achingly beautiful love of Christ. I just had to put into words the great joy and gratitude I felt at His sacrifice, at the freedom and power available to us when we believe in Him. It's one of the rare few times when a song just comes out almost spontaneously in one sitting so it must have been God! :)
The chorus is a very simple declaration of faith that comes from a place where we are intimately convicted of His love, which itself compels me to want to give my life, my all, just to love Him and follow Him. That is the kind of response I felt arising from a heart so captured by Jesus. I pray that this song will also resonate with you, just as it has become my personal anthem of faith and response to my Saviour and King.
