In Memory.

Death is nothing at all

Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
I am I and you are you,
Whatever we were to each other, that we still are.
Call me by my old familiar name,
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used.
Put no difference in your tone,
wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow,
laugh as we always laughed
at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Pray, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word
that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effort,
without the trace of a shadow in it.
Life means all that it ever meant,
it is the same as it ever was.
There is unbroken continuity,
why should I be out of mind
because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you
somewhere very near
just around the corner.
All is well

- Henry Scott Holland 1847-1918

Dedicated to my mother-in-law.
Who's walking in the brighter room now.

SHAKEN.

Four Quakes in 24 hours
- Straits Times

I was at Titus' house on 12th Sep at about 7pm. We were having a meeting...when we felt it. It was a strange feeling... when suddenly all you thought was STABLE started wobbling. The floor, the chairs...the walls... the lights started to swing left and right.... then it stopped for a while... we were still thinking whether to leave the house or not...trying to make sense of things... when the second tremor came - fiercer this time - no hesitation - we ran! All 24 floors down... actually I thought we were more giddy from the running down than by the tremor itself... haha....

Any of you felt it?

That's us -
trying to get our footing on firm ground....

But it really got me thinking... how strange the reaction of different ones - when the ground we are so familiar with - began to shake. Giddy? Dis-orientated?
It does shake us... and God spoke to me - how important it is for us to have our footing on the firm foundation...on the rock that cannot be shaken...
So if you're feeling spiritually giddy, or dis-orientated - maybe it's time to change our footing. :-)

"He alone is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will never be shaken."
-Ps 62:2

Godly Friends

Heys FRIENDS!

Friends Friends Friends Friends Friends...
We all need friends.
God didn't make eve just to help make babies!
He provided her for a friendship.
God didn't put you in church just to talk to yourself or worship God yourself.
If he did, the preacher would preach to himself.
You'll even be talking to YOURSELF at fuel.
That's insane!

Thats why i said... we need friends, GODLY friends.
What does it mean to have a Godly friend?
To keep each other in prayer, to share the ups and downs.
When i mean share, i mean SHARE.
Be open about your life! If you are facing troubles, be honest with your friends.
You don't have to hide about your struggles. True friends will be the ones that will stand by you.
Both of you should share in the same values and hold the ultimate goal of helping each other grow in God.

For me, i have 2 friends in particular who mean alot to me. They are people whom I'm accountable to. One of them moved to new zealand 7 years ago, but we mained the friendship by calling and emailing. The other (yes she's in singapore) we connect at a very deep level. Initially we started by co-leading our cell, but then we grew to start sharing about our every step we took in our walk with God. The more we shared, the more we grew, in the friendship and in the spirit.

Love and encourage one another.
Be a friend, find a friend.
"A man of many companions may come to ruin,
but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother” (Proverbs 18:24).
What it means is that it is better to have one good friendship, than have many friendships that amount to nothing.

So, as we return to school, we search for the friends.
Do pray about it. But more than that, don't discount the friends that you have in church!
Be my friend!
Love, Sis Mich
