More testimonies!

Hey Ignyte,

Here are two more powerful testimonies of caring and connecting from our fellow youths!
The extent to which they went to care and connect their friends really wowed me!
Hopefully they will inspire you to do the same, even though it requires some sacrifices and extra work.
Let's praise God for all that He is doing in our lives, and thank Him for what is to come as we continue praying for more to be connected to the kingdom of God! :

Two years ago, I wanted to find out more about Christianity, so I went to visit the IGNYTE website. I left an inquiry on the IGNYTE tagboard, asking whether anyone could help me to find out more about Christianity. To my surprise, a day later, lots of replies came – and that motivated me to attend one of the weekend IGNYTE services.

However, IGNYTE service was a total culture shock for me – it was my first time attending a church youth service, and I wasn’t used to all the jumping and cheering throughout the service! I felt really uncomfortable and out of place at the point of time.

Subsequently, Matthew, who replied to my inquiry on the tagboard, chatted with me over MSN – and he found out about the discomfort that I felt. Knowing that he had to clarify my doubts about church, he asked me out for lunch on a particular afternoon – and he kindly treated me lunch even though we were complete strangers. After lunch, both of us settled down at the Takashimaya lobby, if I didn’t remember wrongly – and he spent 2 hours going through New Beginnings, which was an essential guidebook for new Christians. He also helped to clarify all the doubts that I had about church, and I really appreciated him for his patience and helpfulness!

However, that was not all. Matthew knew that I was still in the process of finding a church, so he offered to accompany me to visit various churches around the area, even though he’s an IGNYTER. It was raining heavily – but he still shared his umbrella with me, and he was really keen to help me to find out more about the various youth ministries that each church catered. I was really touched by his gesture – and because of that, I’ve decided to join IGNYTE again!

So yes my friends, always remember that strangers are always families that we’ve yet acknowledged – so continue to reach out to people that’s around you, and be the salt and light of this generation, amen? Amen!

I only got closer to Jewel and Kim through this year's boarding school experience. We were allowed to stay in my school's boarding school for 3 weeks to experience the life of the scholars and learn to be independent. Throughout the 3 weeks, I remember heading over to their room every night. On one of the days, I was over at their room and we were on the computer. I knew at that point that both Jewel and Kim were Christians, so I thought there was no harm in sharing with them some nice Christian videos I saw on Youtube. After sharing the videos with them, they were more open in talking about their faith and the 3 of us starting sharing about it. Soon after, both Jewel and Kim starting confiding in me the problems they faced in their old church and it was then when I invited them to join me in Ignyte.

Jewel came the following week and enjoyed herself thoroughly. She started coming for services and cell regularly and started getting herself involved in the ministry. She told me that joining Ignyte was the best thing that ever happened to her. Kim, on the other hand, was more hesitant on jumping to another church as she had grown up in the church she was in previously. There was still a sense of attachment despite all the problems she was facing there.

However, things started to change after I invited her to attend the Hillsongs concert with me last year. After the concert, she told me she had never really worshipped God openly before, jumping to the songs and with arms raised high. It was her first and she loved it! I guess God spoke to her during that time because after that night she told me she was ready to try out Trinity. Jewel settled it really quickly, but it took Kim a slightly longer time to settle down in church as she had to settle some matters in her old church before joining us. But once she started attending cell and fuel regularly, she enjoyed it and told me she could really feel the presence of God during worship.

Doing TAWG wasn't new to Kim as she did it regularly every single day, but at that point of time, it was still quite a new thing for Jewel as she wasn't used to doing it on a regular basis. She also confided in me that sometimes when she got home she would be too tired to do her TAWG and would just fall asleep on her bed. After hearing that, I decided to invite Jewel to do her TAWG with me during our lunch break everyday. We both made it a point to meet every single day during lunch to do our TAWG. There were some weird stares from passer-bys at first but we chose to ignore them and instead focus our attention on God. Although the time spent doing TAWG everyday was a really short one because of our short breaks, it was still very productive. We could both really feel God's presence with us as we read our bibles. I also took that time to catch up on Jewel's life and made sure she was doing fine in her class, and helped her with her problems in school. Now, both Jewel and Kim are attending Ignyte on a regular basis and are even serving in their own respective ministries. They are happier than ever and praise God for that!
